The 15 Minute Overhaul | The Quick Kitchen Declutter

Home organisation doesn't have to be an all or nothing process, nor something that you achieve and never think about again (oh if only!).

Choosing to wait for that free weekend coming up (in 6 months time), or when the kids finally learn to put the toys away themselves (anyone?!), can easily lead to added frustration and overwhelm.
Take the pressure off and treat yourself to a 15 Mini Minute Overhaul with these steps to declutter the kitchen:
  1. Using a small to medium (beautiful) basket, collect everything that isn't meant to be in the kitchen in to the basket, except for obvious rubbish.
  2. Start the timer!
  3. Match all containers with their lids.  Recycle any that don't have lids.
  4. Put any empty packets of dried goods in to containers, or close the packet with a sealing clip.
  5. Next, tidy and organise the under sink cupboard. Using a large plastic basket or a couple of medium size baskets, reorganise everything in to these.  But firstly, take out all sponges etc from their packets, and recycle any empty cleaning products.
  6. Do a quick scan of every drawer and cupboard and ask - do I really need 5 wooden spoons, or 6 different types of dinner sets?
  7. Use drawer organisers and cutlery organisers to tidy cutlery, as well as for that "second drawer" of utensils.  These are also great for things like cling wrap, baking paper, and  snap lock bags.
  8. Ensure all dishes are washed or in the dishwasher.
  9. Reduce bench top clutter - include only the basics, coffee machine (of course), toaster, kettle, paper towel, fruit bowl and hand soap.
